Police outpost needed at Onderneeming Sand Pit

Dear Editor,
With criminal activities escalating in the Food for the Poor Housing Scheme where some 200 families live alone aback of the Onderneeming Sand Pit in Region Two, a call is being made for a police outpost to be set up there.
To some extent, the abominable situation can well be regarded as alarmingly replete with abounding lawlessness ever so very detrimental to the community.
Excessive rum drinking compounded with the prevalent use of narcotics, especially among adolescents, are the contributory factors to the worrying and despicable situation.
Some of the offences being committed are: rape, break-and-enter, larceny, kick-down-the-door banditry, larceny from the person, assault, fighting, wounding, praedial larceny, attempted arson, and larceny of livestock.
The high rate of underage pregnancy is a common occurrence as well.
Enforcement of the law is necessary to restore some measure of respectability to the society, with the agencies in the district being charged with the responsibility to do so lacking ever so much.
A well organized criminal gang of eight persons from within the area are known to be culprits. The Police had pursued this gang in the backlands, but in crossing the Itiribisci Lake the boat capsized, and the mission was aborted without any casualties.
Unfortunately, a high-powered AK-47 rifle fell overboard, and could not be retrieved despite reputable divers being engaged in the operation to retrieve this weapon.

Yours faithfully,
Leroy Williams
