Police patrol comes under fire while attempting to stop car

A Police patrol comprising ranks of Regional Division 4’C’ came under fire from occupants of a motorcar while it was performing duties along the Sparendaam Public Road, East Coast Demerara (ECD).
The incident occurred on Thursday at about 01:22h, after the ranks attempted to stop the motorcar, which was reportedly being driven in a dangerous manner.
The car, Toyota Allion PSS 7835, was seen travelling in a dangerous manner on the Plaisance Public Road, and suddenly turned into Prince William Street. As a result, the ranks went in pursuit of the motorcar, and while in the vicinity of Crown Dam, Industry, ECD, the occupants discharged two rounds in the direction of the patrol vehicle.
In retaliation, the ranks returned fire, causing the car to stop and three males to exit and make good their escape in a nearby canefield.
Ranks searched the abandoned vehicle, and found multiple passport pictures along with an NBS bank book, several copies of Nigerian passports, and a copy of a Guyanese ID card of a female.
The motorcar and documents were lodged at the Sparendaam Police Station as the Police continue their manhunt for the three men.
