G/town vendor nabbed with ganja after disembarking boat at Bartica
A 54-year-old female vendor of West La Penitence, Georgetown was on Thursday taken into custody following the discovery of a quantity of cannabis in her possession at the Bartica Ferry Stelling in Region Seven (Cuyuni-Mazaruni).

Based on reports received, at about 08:50h, a team of Policemen was performing duties at the Bartica Stelling when the vendor, who disembarked one of the boats, was escorted to the Bartica Police Station with her personal belongings.
While at the station, a search was conducted on a red-and-blue travelling bag in her possession, and a black parcel containing ganja was found.
She was told of the offence committed, cautioned, arrested, and has since admitted ownership of the illegal substance. The cannabis was weighed in her presence, and amounted to 1416 grams. She remains in custody, pending charges.
