The Police have launched an investigation into an alleged rape committed on an 18-year-old girl in Region Six (East Berbice-Corentyne) on Friday evening.
Based on information received, the victim had left her home unknown to her mother and went out about 22:30h.
She claimed that as she was walking on the road, the 23-year-old suspect came up on his motorcycle and began conversing with her. Further, she claimed that even though she did not know the young man, she accompanied him to a bar and they consumed one beer each.
