The Guyana Police Force (GPF) is investigating the death of a Police Sergeant of Airstrip Road, Non Pariel, East Coast Demerara (ECD), who reportedly died by suicide. Dead is Bachan Singh.
Based on Police reports, Singh attempted suicide on Saturday, May 23, at about 14:00h at his home. He was subsequently taken to the Enmore Regional Hospital, where he was admitted as a patient in the High Dependency Unit (HDU).
However, Singh succumbed on Friday, May 29, at about 22:00h while receiving medical care at the ECD hospital. According to Police, a bottle suspected to have contained a poisonous substance was found at the location.
Singh’s body was examined, and no marks of violence were seen. Investigations are ongoing.
