Police Sergeant succumbs days after accident

Three days after crashing his car into a parked motor lorry, a sergeant attached to the Guyana Police Force (GPF) succumbed to the injuries he sustained. Dead is 42-year-old Joseph Elton Ambrose of Herstelling, East Bank Demerara.
Ambrose, who was stationed at Alberttown Police Station, died early Thursday morning at the Georgetown Public Hospital after suffering from a fractured skull and haemorrhage in the brain.
Enquiries revealed that the father of one, who was driving motor car PMM 9099 north along the western carriageway of the road, reportedly at a fast pace, lost control of the vehicle and crashed into the rear of motor lorry GLL 5592, which was

Public-spirited citizens rushed to the man’s aid and took him to the Diamond hospital, where he was treated and transferred to the Georgetown Public Hospital.
However, the Police Force in a statement confirmed the death of the Police Officer and that an autopsy will be conducted today.
As the GPF mourned the death of one of its members, memories of Sergeant 16542 were recalled.
“The always pleasant, respected, dedicated and committed policeman was on 500 days’ accumulated vacation leave, which commenced on April 9,” the release further noted.
The GPF has extended condolences to the family, relatives, and friends of Sergeant Ambrose.
