Police still hunting miner’s killer

Law enforcers are still searching for the man accused of killing 33-year-old Allensford Consford Sargon outside a popular drinking spot at Quartz Stone Landing, Cuyuni River, Region Seven (Cuyuni-Mazaruni), about a week ago.
This was confirmed by a police source on Saturday. Since the incident, Police have ramped up their search for the suspect.
Based on reports received, the now dead man was employed with a miner of Number 40 Village, West Coast Berbice (WCB). Reports are the owner of the dredge paid his workers, including Sargon, who later left the mining camp and went to Quartz Stone Landing, where he was reportedly seen imbibing.
Guyana Times understands that later in the afternoon of October 24, the shop owner was awakened by another miner, who informed him that Sargon had been stabbed to death in front of his shop by an identifiable male.
Upon investigating, the shop owner reportedly saw the now dead man lying about 12 feet away from his shop in a motionless state.
The Police were summoned to the scene where they found Sargon’s body clad in a pair of three-quarter pants and a dark blue T-shirt. Upon examination, they discovered that there were two incise wounds to Sargon’s head and throat.
His body was escorted to the Bartica Regional Hospital Mortuary. Investigations are still ongoing.
