Police unearth 13.6kg ganja in car at Vlissengen Road

Ranks of the Guyana Police Force (GPF) arrested three men on Wednesday after they were busted with 13.6kg of marijuana in a motorcar.
The discovery was made at around 09:10h at the junction of Vlissengen Road and Brickdam in Georgetown.

Investigations revealed that Police, acting on information received, intercepted a silver-gray Toyota Sienta motorcar, HC 4153, at the junction of Vlissengen Road and Brickdam. At the time, the driver and two other occupants were in the vehicle.
A search was conducted on the car, and cops unearthed 28 parcels wrapped in transparent plastic containing leaves, seeds and stems suspected to be cannabis. Police said the items were found in the back seat and the trunk of the vehicle.
The men were told of the offence committed and were cautioned, arrested and escorted to Brickdam Police Station, along with the cannabis and the motor vehicle.
The cannabis was weighed in their presence, and amounted to thirteen kilograms, six hundred and eighty grams.
The suspects are in custody, pending charges. (G9)
