As Police continue their investigations into the murder of 47-year-old Indira Bipat, a female taxi driver whose body was found in a ditch at La Parfaite Harmonie, West Bank Demerara (WBD), last week, investigators believe locating the woman’s car is paramount.

The motorcar is a Silver-Grey Toyota Axio bearing registration numbers PXX 4114.
D Division Commander, Edmond Cooper on Sunday related that there are no leads at this moment while noting that recovery of the vehicle is key to the investigation.
“We have not gotten anything on the car as yet. What we are doing, we are trying to if we could locate the vehicle so we are in contact with our counterparts from the Guyana Revenue Authority (GRA) in terms of getting the chassis number and such so that in case that anybody sprays the car over or anything, and uses it, we would know. You have got to start from somewhere because you don’t have anything and it is a serious issue but we are working and this is the angle that we have started with.”
Additionally, Commander Cooper noted that all police stations were informed to be on the lookout for the motorcar.
Bipat, of Lot 18 Samaroo Dam, Pouderoyen, WBD, had left her home at about 17:30h on May 18, 2019, in her family’s car.
After the woman failed to return home that evening and the following morning, her son told Guyana Times that he filed a report at the Vreed-en-Hoop Police Station.
While there, the young man revealed that he received a report from a female friend informing him that the body of a female had been found in a ditch at La Parfaite Harmonie. As such, the family rushed to the scene and their worst fears were confirmed.
A post-mortem examination was recently conducted on Bipat’s body where it revealed the cause of death as strangulation compounded by blunt trauma to the head.
