Pork-knocker shot after attacking Police with chopper

A pork-knocker of Half Mile Wismar, Linden was on Sunday shot by Police ranks after he attacked them with a chopper in a bid to resist arrest at Omai Landing, Region Seven (Cuyuni-Mazaruni).
Glenn McCardy was shot to the lower abdomen, and was taken to the Mackenzie Public Hospital where he underwent surgery. He was admitted to the medical facility under guard.
Based on information received, the Police ranks were performing duties at the Guyana Geology and Mines Commission, Omai location when they confronted the 27-year-old man after receiving information that he was carrying cannabis in a haversack. The Police ranks were armed with their service weapons.
However, as the Police approached the pork-knocker, he whipped out a chopper from his haversack and charged towards them. He reportedly fired several chops, but in retaliation, one of the police ranks drew his service weapon and discharged a round in the direction of the man which struck him in the left side of his lower abdomen.
McCardy was relieved of the chopper, and when Police checked the haversack, a quantity of cannabis was unearthed. The amount was not disclosed to the media.
A probe has since been launched into the incident.
