Pork-knocker to face Judge, jury for beheading brother-in-law
At the next sitting of the Demerara High Court Criminal Assizes, 27-year-old Andrew King is expected to face a Judge and jury for beheading his brother-in-law, Justin Peterkin, back in 2018.
King was committed to stand trial late last week by Magistrate Faith McGusty at the conclusion of a Preliminary Inquiry (PI) into Peterkin’s murder.
The murder accused was charged in November 2018, and was not required to plea.
Reports stated that on November 5, 2018, the man gruesomely murdered Peterkin, his sister’s husband, at about 08:20h at the family’s Lot 1323 Block Y, Grove, East Bank Demerara (EBD) home.
The now dead man of Paradise, East Coast Demerara (ECD), had visited the area on the day in question when the incident occurred.
Neighbours recalled spotting King holding a hammer, which was subsequently followed by a “knocking” sound.
One neighbour related that upon checking, he saw Peterkin lying motionless on the ground, being hammered and chopped about his body by his brother-in-law.
After committing the act, the suspect reportedly left the yard and proceeded towards the street with the two weapons in his hands.
