Porter accused of raping Essequibo woman gets 200K bail

Kalika Singh, 40, a porter from Good Hope, Essequibo Coast, Region Two (Pomeroon-Supenaam), was granted bail on a rape charge on Thursday.

He was charged with the offence of rape, contrary to Section 3(3) of the Sexual Offences Act, Chapter 8:03, committed against a female adult, which occurred on September 28, 2024, at Good Hope, Essequibo Coast. Singh appeared before Magistrate Ravindra Mohabir at the Anna Regina Magistrate’s Court on Thursday, where the charge was read to him. He was not required to plead to the incident but was placed on $200,000 bail with conditions that he report to the Aurora Police Station every Friday until the determination of the matter.
In addition, he was ordered to stay 100 feet away from the victim and, furthermore, not to make contact with her. The matter was adjourned to April 30, 2026.
