Marleen Grant pleaded guilty with explanation when she was arraigned before Magistrate Judy Latchman on a narcotics trafficking charge.

It is alleged that on September 17, 2016 at Essequibo, she had in her possession 629 grams of cannabis for the purpose of trafficking.

However, a not-guilty plea was entered after her explanation was made directly to the Magistrate.

The prosecution objected to bail, stating that the defendant was a Jamaican, which made her a flight risk. Bail was denied and the defendant was remanded. She will next appear in court on September 26, 2016.
