The atmosphere at the National Gymnasium on Saturday, May 23, 2026, was electric as the Guyana Volleyball Federation (GVF) hosted its highly anticipated Independence Volleyball Tournament 2026 under the theme “Peace & Unity through Sport”. With top first-division male and female teams battling for supremacy, fans witnessed a thrilling display of athleticism, teamwork, and determination.
At the end of an action-packed day, two clubs stood tall above the rest: Premier Eagles Volleyball Club (VC) and Classic Ball Blasters (CBB). Together, the powerhouse teams captured an astonishing six out of the tournament’s eight trophies, cementing their dominance on the local volleyball scene.

Premier Eagles VC soared to championship glory in the male category after an impressive campaign filled with discipline, aggressive attacking, and tactical precision. Their performances throughout the preliminary rounds and finals showcased why they are regarded as one of Guyana’s elite volleyball clubs.
Classic Ball Blasters (CBB) secured the runner-up position after fighting valiantly in the finals, while PMTC of Berbice earned third place, demonstrating that Berbice volleyball continues to produce quality competition and rising talent.
Adding to the Eagles’ celebration was the recognition of standout player Evgeny Titov, who was named Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the male division for his exceptional all-round performances and leadership on the court.

In the female division, Classic Ball Blasters proved unstoppable as they captured the championship title with commanding performances throughout the tournament. Their consistency, communication, and attacking flair overwhelmed opponents and thrilled spectators.
PMTC’s female squad earned a commendable second-place finish, while Premier Eagles VC claimed third place in a highly competitive division.
CBB star Eureka Dennis was deservedly crowned Female MVP after delivering outstanding performances that inspired her team’s championship run.
With cash prizes totalling hundreds of thousands of dollars and intense competition from start to finish, the Independence Volleyball Tournament 2026 once again demonstrated the rapid growth and excitement surrounding volleyball in Guyana.
