Preparation commenced for President’s Cup

A recent trend in Guyana’s horse racing shows that the Guyana Cup champion horse usually clinch the double, and claim the President’s Cup.

Jockey Ross will have his work cut-out from the in-form Js Racing Stables

This year’s President’s Cup is one month away, set for Sunday November 29 at Rising Sun Turf Club. Current Guyana Cup winner Sand Pipes is expected to return to rule the turf, but the competition could be more challenging than ever.
Js Racing Stables have been in red-hot form and the silent killers could be Slingerz Racing Stables, a former Guyana Cup and President’s Cup winner.
The Jumbo Jet Racing Stables will have additional work ahead of the President’s Cup which will certainly not be a walk in the park.
According to Nasrudeen Mohamed Jr, owner of the Guyana Cup winner, Samd Pipes, more horses from the Jumbo Jet Racing Stables will be out at the President’s Cup.
“I haven’t been around the horses since Guyana Cup. President’s Cup is around the corner. We have a lot more horses racing then. We were doing some construction on the track so we had a little setback with the horses but everything is a go now,” Mohamed said.
Reflecting on the year 2026, he described the year as a great one, which saw the introduction of new owners.
“Horse racing was great for the last three years. 2026 was the best so far. A lot of new owners and horsemen into the sports, that is exactly what we wanted. We have to thank the government of Guyana for the great work they have done in selecting the new board members to get the work started,” Mohamed said.
More than US$ 100,000 will be up for grabs at this year’s President’s Cup.
