The opening quarter set the tone for a tightly contested matchup, with President’s College edging GTI 12–10. The hosts gradually built momentum in the second quarter, extending their lead to 26–19 by halftime through disciplined defence and timely scoring.
GTI showed resilience coming out of the break, battling strongly in the third quarter. Their effort paid off as they narrowly won the period 12–11, trimming the deficit and shifting momentum slightly in their favour heading into the final quarter.
The visitors continued to press in the fourth, outscoring President’s College 16–13 as they pushed for a late comeback. However, President’s College held their composure in the closing minutes, executing key plays on both ends of the court to protect their lead and seal the three-point victory.
Despite the loss, GTI’s determined performance throughout the second half highlighted their competitive spirit and kept the contest in doubt until the final whistle.
Action in the Schools’ Basketball League continues on Friday with a full slate of matchups. Queen’s College will host St Rose’s High School, GTI will face Saint Stanislaus College, and Marian Academy will welcome President’s College as the season gathers momentum.
