Probe into noise nuisance report leads to ganja bust

Police ranks stationed at Kwakwani, Region 10 (Upper Demerara-Berbice), who were responding to a noise nuisance report ended up making a ganja bust in the community.

The ganja that was found

Reports are that at about 04:00h, the ranks went to Lamp Island, Kwakwani Water Front, Upper Berbice River. However, while there they observed motor car HD 673, with two occupants driving away upon seeing them.
This led to ranks giving chase and the driver of the motor car drove into a nearby trench, causing the vehicle to come to a halt.
As a result, a search was conducted on the vehicle and two transparent parcels containing a quantity of compressed leaves, seeds and stems suspected to be Cannabis sativa were found in the trunk of the car.
Both the driver and the passenger were told of the offence committed, but both pointed fingers at each other.
They were taken to the Kwakwani Police Station and then to the Mackenzie Police Station where the suspected narcotic was weight in their presence and amounted to 25 pounds.
The two remain in custody, pending charges.
