Quarter-final spots at stake this weekend

The remaining quarter-finalists will be confirmed when the Guyana Football Federation (GFF) Corona Super 16 knockout tournament continues this weekend starting from today.

Action will continue from this evening at the Buxton Community ground, East Coast Demerara

While Wednesday’s scheduled games were postponed because of the inclement weather, the action will continue this weekend with four matches in two days at the Buxton Community ground on the East Coast of Demerara.
This evening the Victoria Kings will clash with Police FC while home side Buxton United will do battle with NA United.
The postponed games between Western Tigers and Grove Hi-Tec along with Fruta Conquerors vs Ann’s Grove will take now take place on Saturday.
The feature clash will bring together powerhouse, Fruta Conquerors and Ann’s Grove in a tantalizing affair under lights.
The Tucville based side; Conquerors will seek to extend their good run this year by knocking out the East Coast Demerara side in their quest for a spot in the final eight. However, it will be no easy task for the men in orange as Ann’s Grove have proven recently that they can be formidable opponents on any given day.
Fruta’s front line will be led by the tenacious Jermain Junior while their defense will be buoyed by Jeremy Garrett, all in all the matchup should make for a thrilling 90 minutes of football as the underdogs clash with the big boys.
Action starts on both days from 18:00h.
The four teams that have already qualified for the quarter-final stage are Winners Connection, Mile Rock FC, GDF FC and Den Amstel.
The final is set for January 1 at the Guyana National Stadium with a grand after party with dancehall star Popcaan. The winning team is set to pocket $2,000,000 while the losing finalist will get $1,000,000.
