Queens College (QC) captured the Youth Basketball Guyana (YBG) Geo City Regional title on Sunday after defeating Tutorial High 37-28 in the championship game at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall (CASH).
The final was a closely contested affair, but QC produced a disciplined performance on both ends of the court to secure the regional crown. Darren Dublin led the champions and was rewarded with the tournament’s Most Valuable Player award after contributing 12 points and three rebounds in the final.

He received support from Deshaun Garrick, who finished with eight points and seven rebounds, while Liam Bart also scored eight points to help QC maintain control of the contest.
Tutorial High fought hard throughout the game but was unable to overturn the deficit. Keion Lynch led their scoring with 10 points, while Julian Charles added nine points. Xavier Scott made a strong defensive contribution with five rebounds and an impressive eight blocks.
Earlier in the day, St Rose’s High secured third place with a convincing 57-29 victory over The Bishops’ High School A team.

Shaquan Callender produced an outstanding all-round display for St Rose’s High, finishing with 16 points, three rebounds and five steals to earn the Player of the Game award. Christian Williams also scored 16 points in the winning effort.
For The Bishops’ High A, Kemol Pickering recorded a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds despite the defeat.
The regional competition was sponsored by Edward B Beharry Ltd, G-Boats Inc, the National Sports Commission, the Ministry of Education, and Banks DIH Ltd.
