Home News Queen’s College named Top School in Caribbean for 2021
The Caribbean Examinations Councils (CXC) held its 2021 Regional Top Awards Ceremony where nine Guyanese students were awarded for their outstanding performances at the Caribbean Secondary Education Certificate 2021 and the Caribbean Advanced Proficiency Examinations 2021.
The award ceremony was held virtually in the British Virgin Islands and was broadcast live across the Caribbean region where awardees tuned in virtually to receive their awards in their respective countries.
Guyana became the most decorated country after it took home some of the most important awards.
Queen’s College student, Zaynab Shaffie received the Overall Outstanding Achievement award for CSEC 2021 for her star-shooting performance, attaining eighteen (18) Grade Ones and two Grade Twos.
Samuel Haynes from Queen’s College copped the CAPE Overall Outstanding Achievement award.
Roshni Samaroo, also from Queen’s College, copped the Humanities award. The top Business award went to Naresh Jagnanan from the Essequibo Islands Secondary School while Serena Razak from Queen’s College received the top Technical Vocational award.
Riley Dominique Nurse, another Queen’s College student, and Saalih Muhammad Rahim from ISA Islamic School both received the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) CSEC Accounting Award for Principles of Accounts. The ACCA CAPE Accounting Award went to Crystal Benjamin from The Bishops’ High School. Abdul Subhan from St Stanislaus College was the top History awardee for CAPE 2021.
Top CSEC 2021 student, Zaynab Shaffie, in brief remarks at the award ceremony, said that she is grateful to receive the award and credited her achievements to her family, friends, and teachers who helped her along the way. She also expressed thanks to God, noting that her success would not have been possible without him.
“Believe in yourself, formulate a plan and work towards it because you’re capable of more than you think,” she said encouragingly to other students.
Meanwhile, Queen’s College was awarded as the Top School in the Caribbean. The school is no stranger to receiving such an award, as it would have been awarded the same honour last year.
