Ramson Jr unveils Horse Racing Authority members

Following the passing of the Horse Racing Legislation in Guyana, a Horse Racing Authority has been formally established, in which Steven Cheefoon will act as Chairman.
The announcement was made on Thursday evening by Sport Minister Charles Ramson as he brought the feature remarks at the launch of the 18th edition of the Guyana Cup.

The Guyana Horse Racing Authority will also include Adrian Anamayah, Dr Nardeo Bassoodeo, Amernauth Kiritpal, Zahir Khan, Poonai Bhrigroog, and Councillor Mohamed Naeem Kamal (Port Mourant Turf Club-racetrack Support and Administration).
“They will have their first meeting this month to pursue all of the activities that are required to be advanced, pursuant to the Act,” Ramson Jr announced.
The Horse Racing Authority will have a lot on their plates in the near future as Guyana’s premier horse racing event, the Guyana Cup, prepares for staging on Sunday, August 23.
The Guyana Horse Racing Authority Bill 2024 was passed in the National Assembly back in 2025.
