Reliance Hustlers Cricket Club honours star players

The Reliance Hustlers Cricket Club out of Reliance, Essequibo Coast, honoured its players at an award dinner held on February 2, 2019, to mark the club’s first anniversary. According to club captain Trevis Simon, he was delighted with the performances of the players; from the junior and senior levels.
He saw the award dinner as a great gesture towards the talents as part of the one year anniversary celebration of the club. The captain said as a lover of cricket, he committed himself to promote the game and get young people involved to move them away from drugs, alcohol and illegal activities.
The Club was successful in its first year; some of the achievements were fixing the once neglected play ground in Reliance, build a new spectator pavilion, a canteen and washroom facilities. During the past year, the club participated in two T20 competitions, reaching the final on both occasions. Additionally, the team won numerous T10 competitions during the year also.
All members were  awarded with medals for their outstanding performances and special awards were given to Kevon Boodram – most improved cricketer;  Rovendra Parasram – best fielder;  Mark Austin – best batsman; Ravindra Persaud – best bowler; Narindra Madholall – most entertaining player; and Anthony Ifill received the captain’s award for commitment and dedication.
In the junior category, junior cricketer of the year went to Abdool Nadir and senior cricketer of the year went to the captain, Trevis Simon. The captain was very much thankful to all, especially those who willingly sponsored trophies, medals, and cash, or in any other way aided the promotion the game.
