The Republic Bank Caribbean Premier League (CPL) on Monday articulated its support for the Guyanese populace amid the MV Barima tragedy, which occurred over the weekend.
The CPL shared in a statement, “The thoughts of everyone at the Republic Bank Caribbean Premier League (CPL) are with those who have been impacted by the MV Barima tragedy.
“Our hearts go out to the families and loved ones of those who lost their lives, and to all who remain missing, as search and rescue efforts continue. We stand with Guyana and the wider Caribbean community during this difficult time.
The CPL family sends strength and solidarity to all affected.”
The MV Barima was en route to Region One from Georgetown when it capsized off the Essequibo Coast on Saturday night. More than 100 passengers were estimated to have been on board the vessel, with some 69 persons rescued.
