Republic Bank donates ventilators to fight COVID-19

The Public Health Ministry on Thursday received eight portable ventilators donated by Republic Bank to aid in the country’s fight against the deadly COVID-19 pandemic.

Republic Bank’s representative, Denise Hobbs hands over the donation to former Public Health Minister Volda Lawrence

Receiving the donation was former Public Health Minister Volda Lawrence, who noted that the equipment would benefit many families and help to buttress the ongoing fight against the novel coronavirus as well as several other diseases.
Lawrence relayed the anguish felt by health-care workers whenever they came up short providing critical service for their patients especially those needing medical care for COVID-19.
“Health-care workers bear a lot of emotional and mental stress due if they are unable to provide the necessary services for patients. Many persons do not understand the impact it has on health-care workers when they have someone’s life in their hands and do not have the necessary equipment, which will help in saving those lives,” Lawrence explained.
Republic Bank’s representative, Denise Hobbs said the financial institution was committed to helping customers overcome their economic challenges during this period of uncertainty.
She noted that the bank was cognisant of the social challenges facing the nation and its corps of dedicated health-care workers who continue to wrestle the effects of the deadly viral disease.
“We feel strongly about our corporate social responsibility as often demonstrated through our Power to ‘Make a Difference Programme’, to assist the people and communities we serve,” Hobbs related.
