Retired Policeman named SOCU Deputy

Retired Senior Superintendent of Police Lawrence Kissoon has been named Deputy Head of the Guyana Police Force’s (GPF) Special Organised Crime Unit (SOCU).
Kissoon, who recently retired from the Force after serving for over two decades, is slated to assume duty soon.
Kissoon will be the Deputy to Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Sydney James, who himself is a retired Colonel of the Guyana Defence Force (GDF).
Efforts made to confirm Kissoon’s appointment at SOCU with the agency head proved futile.
SOCU was established in 2013 as a law enforcement agency to investigate exclusively, allegations relating to money laundering and terrorism and has since expanded its operations to include gold smuggling and narcotics trafficking by Guyanese locally and abroad.
