These female footballers will be in action from 16:00hrs this Saturday, August 3, when promoters Theresa & George Bobb, in collaboration with the Rupununi Football Association (RFA), host an under-17 female, 7-a-side, round-robin football tournament, scheduled for play
from August 3rd to 31st at the St. Ignatius Sports Ground in Lethem.
Seven participating teams will be battling for the championship trophy and medals: Moco Moco FC, Rising Stars FC, Gladiators FC, Rush Saints FC, Terminators FC, Far East Sports Club, Potarinau Sky Kings FC and Tabatinga FC.
The matches would each be played for a 50-minute duration, with 10 minutes allotted for half time.
The sponsors, Theresa & George Bobb, say they have decided to come on board with the RFA for this inaugural tournament in order to further develop the game and to have more female participation in the sport.
RFA President, Rayan Farias, has thanked the sponsors for their partnership, and has expressed hope that it would continue and be extended into the future.
