RHTY&SC boosts Port Mourant Public Hospital with donation

The 10 cricket teams who fall under the Rose Hall Town Youth & Sports Club (RHTY&SC) MS on Monday last fulfilled a commitment made by their Secretary/CEO, Hilbert Foster, and handed over $100,000 worth of materials to management of the Port Mourant Public Hospital. The Secretary/CEO was very impressed with the high standard of the staff and the general physical upkeep of the institution after being a patient for a week recently.

Foster stated that the donation will be the first of many to the Hospital as RHTY&SC and its cricket teams will look to establish a long-term relationship with the Hospital. The donation included stationery, clocks, medical items, an electric iron, blenders, kitchen utensils, toys, calculators, crayons, among others articles. The long-standing Secretary/CEO disclosed that another donation will be made shortly, while four doctors and 10 nurses will be honoured on May 12, 2019 under the RHTY&SC first ever Tribute to Health Workers Programme.
Noting that he was unwilling to visit the public hospital because of negative reports in the media, Foster stated that the service was at the highest level. Head Doctor at the Hospital, Dr Devendra Radhay expressed gratitude to the Rose Hall Town Youth & Sports Club for the contribution. He stated that the entire management and staff were committed to providing top quality health care service. Over the last five months, the compound and facilities of the hospital have undergone remarkable transformations under Dr Radhay’s dynamic leadership.
The 10 cricket teams of the Rose Hall Town Youth & Sports Club are the King Solomon Logistics U-12, Poonai Pharmacy U-13, Farfan & Mendes U-15; Bakewell U-17 and Second Division, Pepsi U-19 and Intermediate, Metro Female, Gizmos & Gadgets; Gadgets U-21 and First Division. Every year, the teams undertake hundreds of personal development programmes under sub-headings of sports, culture, education, charity, health, awards, social, youth development, community development and religious among others.
In 2019, the teams are expected to support the management of the club by successfully completing at least 300 activities. These include assisting youths, NGOs, churches and schools, Cricket Academy, monthly pensioners breakfast, summer camp, Say No/Say Yes Campaign, Region Six Mother of the Year, Christmas Village and Multimillion Christmas Charity programmes.
The Rose Hall Town Youth & Sports Club Cricket Teams are said to be among the best in Berbice and in 2018/2019 have won fifteen titles and being runner-up in three others.
