Female boxers rose to the occasion and did some serious damage when the Guyana Boxing Association (GBA) held its Michael Parris/Pepsi under-16 school boys and juniors tournament at the National Gymnasium on Sunday.
Several bouts were on show as the GBA continues to strengthen their pool of fighters from gyms across the country.
In the night’s lone female encounter Savannah Boxing Gym fighter Julicia Rodney took on forgotten Youth Foundation boxer Abiola Jackman in a highly entertaining matchup.

During the bout the two fighters stood toe to toe exchanging heavy blows in the first two rounds of the fight.
However, with the two boxers visibly tired in the third round Rodney seemingly did enough to eventually being handed the win.
The evening’s best boxer recipient Travis Inverary defeated Francis Sukhu in their 100-104 weight class encounter while Dwayne Baptiste outlasted Malachi jones in their bout.
