A 43-year-old horse cart operator was on Thursday taken into Police custody after he discharged a loaded firearm at a vendor, who reportedly untied his horse at West Ruimveldt, Georgetown.
According to Police information, the incident occurred at about 02:15h. Guyana Times was told that the suspect reportedly tied his horse in front of the home of vendor, Srinwell Campbell.
However, the vendor untied the animal and released it. This newspaper was told that this annoyed the horse’s owner, who then armed himself with a firearm and went to Campbell’s home. The suspect then barged through the vendor’s house door and discharged several rounds in his direction.
Fortunately, the vendor managed to flee unharmed. The matter was reported to the Police and the suspect was apprehended. However, while being transported to the Police station, the suspect reportedly jumped out of the moving vehicle thus resulting in him receiving injuries.
