Rugby’s domestic season resumes Saturday

The Guyana Rugby Football Union (GRFU) domestic season will resume on Saturday at the National Park with the Guyana Defence Force (GDF) playing Yamaha Caribs in the second round of the Bounty Farm XV’s tournament from 16:00h, while on Sunday, Panthers will oppose Police Flacons in the B-Division final.

Based on the schedule released to the media on Tuesday, players are in for a packed season since there will also be a Pepsi Hornets Anniversary Invitational Sevens tournament in May followed by the female 7s, School Festival, and Under-19 tournaments as well as the Scotiabank Summer Camp.
The season will also include high-performance training for both men and women for international engagements.
This year, Guyana will take part in the Central American and Caribbean (CAC) Games, with the Men’s 7s scheduled for July 19-August 3 in Colombia. The team will remain there for the Rugby Americas North Challenge Series Men’s 15s before turning their attention to the RAN Sevens in Barbados.
Players are being reminded XV’s training sessions will be conducted on Wednesdays from 17:00h and Sundays from 07:00h while the Sevens sessions will be Tuesdays and Thursdays from 17:00h.
Gym sessions will be held at the Michael Paris gym in the National Park under the guidance of Barrington Browne and Theodore Henry from 05:45h to 07:00h and 17:00h-19:00h on Mondays and Fridays.
