Leung’s blistering shot in the 25th minute and a Meshach Sargeant rebound goal four minutes later put the game beyond the reach of Saints. The 3-1 victory elevated Bounty GCC to third position, and within contention for the title.
Senior Saints enjoyed their first win of the tournament by trouncing the struggling Hiker Cadets. With the match still deadlocked at minutes to half time, player-coach Robert Fernandes intensified the attacking play, and this resulted in a goal from Kevin Edwards three minutes before half time. From that point, it was no turning back, as Saints Senior scored two additional goals in quick succession to defeat Hiker Cadets 3-0. Saints U-19 has 6, Saints Senior 3, and Hiker Cadets are yet to gain their first point. Old Fort will come up against the Hikers in the final match of the first round. The action continues at the Saint Stanislaus ground on Saturday.
