Second leg of semifinal set for June 8 and 9

The preliminary rounds, knockout stages and semifinal playoffs of the Rupununi Football Association (RFA) Champions League tournament have been completed; and with semifinal 2 having now been completed, the remaining teams in the competition will battle for top honours over the weekend to book their spot in the finals.

In the second leg of the semifinals booked for Saturday in the female category Flash FC will host Guyana Rush Saints at the Yupukari ground at 15:30 hrs. This matchup will be one of excitement as the Saints currently have a one goal aggregate lead over Flash FC, with both teams equally matched and just a one goal difference the game is said to weigh in equal favour of both teams. While in the male category Guyana Rush Saints will host Kanuku Harpies in St Ignatius. The male Saints side has shown aggression from the get go and thus hold a 3-0 goal aggregate over their opponents. It is highly unlikely that the Harpies can actually defeat the inform Saints, there the Saints stand a higher chance of advancing to the finals. This matchup will commence at 20:00 hrs.
On Sunday in the female semifinal match 2, Strikers FC will host Paiwomak Warriors in Masssara. The inform Paiwomak Warriors currently hold a 4-1 goal aggregate over the Strikers thus putting them in the driver’s seat to the finals. The ladies have shown early offensive intent in all their matches scoring more than two goals with in the first 45 minutes of the game. The action will commence at 20:00 hrs.
The female teams competing in this tournament are Sun Parakeets, Guyana Rush Saints, Strikers FC, Titans United, Kanuku Harpies, Flash FC, Paiwomak Warriors and Gladiators FC (Defending Champions); while the male teams competing are Sun Parakeets, Paiwomak Warriors, Titans United, Kanuku Harpies, Jaguars FC, Guyana Rush Saints, Strikers FC and Tabatinga FC (Defending Champions).
The Rupununi Football Association Champions League tournament kicked off in February last with 24 clubs battling for top honours. The teams the winner of the semifinal encounter will then advance to the final, which will be played on June 15.
