Police investigations have revealed that the victim, Lionel Nixon, was in his company car along with another, heading to Georgetown, when the incident occurred.

It was reported that while the car was at Peters Hall, EBD, stuck in slow-moving traffic, the bandit approached the vehicle in which Nixon was in the front passenger seat. The perpetrator subsequently discharged a round at the vehicle, shattering the front windscreen and injuring Nixon to his upper left leg.

The driver of the vehicle in which Nixon was in, Joseph Ferria, who was also armed with a licensed handgun, immediately shot at the bandit. This caused the bandit to panic and in a bid to escape dropped his 9mm Beretta pistol along with sixteen live matching rounds.

The bandit fled the scene on a waiting CG motorcycle, escaping in a northerly direction. Nixon was rushed to a private hospital where he was admitted to undergo surgery.

Meanwhile, detectives have recovered one spent shell at the scene and are continuing their investigations.
