Security guard slapped with B&E charge

A 35-year-old security guard of Victoria Road Sparendaam, East Coast Demerara, was on Monday charged for stealing a quantity of valuables and cash from a resident’s room in the apartment building where he works.
Romel Samuels made his appearance before Magistrate Sherdell Isaacs at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts where he denied the charge brought against him.
The charge stated that between March 30 and April 20, at Fifth Street Alberttown, Samuels broke and entered the apartment of Denzil McDonald and stole one fan valued $5000, one cordless drill valued $17,500, nine black stones valued $35,000, two Kaiak colognes valued $16,000 along with 17 pennyweights of raw gold valued $189,000 and $20,000.
Meanwhile, the Police prosecutor told the court that some of the stolen articles were recovered in Samuels’ room, which he rents at the same apartment building.
He was released on $75,000 and the case will continue on May 10. (G15)
