Security guard to face Judge, jury for wife’s murder

Months after being charged for the murder of his reputed wife, Shanece Lawrence, Jermaine Bristol of Freeman Street, East La Penitence, was on Wednesday committed to stand trial at the High Court by Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan.
The 34-year-old man was charged on August 24, 2018, for the capital offence of murder committed against his reputed wife, 24-year-old Shanece Lawrence on August 22, 2018 at their Freeman Street, East La Penitence home.

prima facie case was made out against Bristol.
The prosecution’s case had stated that after killing Lawrence, Bristol walked into the East La Penitence Police Station and reported the crime. He then led the Police to the body, which was discovered with a knife stuck in the neck.
A post-mortem examination performed by Government Pathologist, Dr Nehaul Singh showed that Lawrence had 10 stab wounds to the neck and body.
It was reported in August 2018 that the couple shared a rocky relationship spanning over half a decade.

sometime between 10:00h and 10:30h on the dreadful day, when they both visited her home at different intervals. She said although her nephew was not a violent person, the duo had had a turbulent relationship, with constant intense arguments being featured. The woman said her nephew informed her that Lawrence had left the home sometime on August 23, 2018.
Meanwhile, the dead woman’s mother had told this publication that she was aware that the duo had issues, adding that her daughter had informed her that she was planning to move back home; but she maintained that the couple had not been fully separated.
