A Deputy Superintendent of Police attached to the Immigration Department within the Guyana Police Force (GPF) is now nursing a fractured right arm after the vehicle she was driving collided with a motor lorry along the Garden of Eden Public Road, East Bank Demerara (EBD), on Friday.
Based on reports received, motor car PAF 8496, driven by the 49-year-old immigration officer, was proceeding south along the Garden of Eden Public Road when the motor lorry, GAD 9996, driven by a 26-year-old male from Ogle, East Coast Demerara (ECD), reportedly veered onto the eastern driving lane and collided with the right front portion of the motor car.
As a result of the collision, the motor car spun and then came to a halt. The driver sustained injuries to her body.
She was assisted by an emergency medical team and transported to the New Diamond Regional Hospital, where she is being treated for pain throughout her body and a fractured right arm.
A breathalyser test conducted on the driver of the motor lorry showed no traces of alcohol in his system. An investigation is underway.
