Service delivery begins at new Housing Ministry headquarters

The Central Housing and Planning Authority (CH&PA) within the Housing Ministry has officially commenced operations at its new headquarters, marking the start of the phased transition of departments and services to the new facility.
Several key departments are now fully operational from the new location at Plantation Houston.
These include the Community Development Department, which previously operated from the Old Dairy Bar Building, and the Planning Department, which is critical for the processing of Planning Permission. The Community Development Department provides several critical services to the public, including matters relating to regularisation, relocation and community development.
Also, all services previously offered at the Camp Street Annex have been fully relocated to the new headquarters.
Additionally, allottees wishing to uplift their Certificates of Title/Transports or seeking assistance with matters relating to these documents are asked to visit the new headquarters.
Moreover, all persons with queries or concerns relating to informal settlements (squatting) and Special Projects are asked to visit the Houston office.
The relocation of these departments forms part of the Ministry’s efforts to consolidate its operations and improve the overall delivery of services to citizens.
On Tuesday, Housing Minister Collin Croal, accompanied by Minister within the Ministry Vanessa Benn, Permanent Secretary Bishram Kuppen, and Chief Executive Officer of the CH&PA Dr Martin Pertab, was on-site to oversee operations and assess the transition.
The officials engaged staff and reviewed the operational arrangements in place to ensure that services continue with minimal disruption as the relocation progresses. The move is being undertaken in phases, with additional departments and key service areas expected to transition to the new headquarters over the coming days.
Members of the public are asked to exercise patience during this period as the Ministry works to ensure continuity of services and a smooth transition. Further updates will be provided as other departments commence operations from the new headquarters.
The new building, which spans approximately 150 feet in length and 105 feet in width, sits on a two-acre plot measuring 214 by 407 feet and can accommodate some 400 persons. Its design includes a spacious parking area capable of accommodating over 100 vehicles.
