Several arrested during “Operation Safe Road”

A total of 29 persons who were in breach of traffic and road laws were arrested by members of the Guyana Police Force during three separate enforcement exercises.
Of this total, 25 drivers were arrested within the Regional Division 4 C. Police in a statement said ranks on Thursday conducted “Operation Safe Road” at the Beterverwagting Police Station and the Vigilance Police Station.
During the operation at Beterverwagting, Police arrested eight drivers for breach of condition of road service while one driver was arrested for prohibition of tinted motor vehicle.
In addition, at Vigilance, seven drivers were arrested for prohibition of tinted motor vehicle, while two were arrested for failure to produce their driver’s licence.
One person was also arrested for poor maintenance of motor vehicle, another for untidy conductor, along with two for overloading and one for amendment of entry.
Two persons were also arrested for breach of prescribed fitness.
Meanwhile, in Berbice, Region Six (East Berbice-Corentyne), an operation on Thursday led to the arrest of four drivers while two others received tickets.
Two drivers were arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol while two were arrested for obscured ID mark front. Additionally, one driver was arrested for unlighted motor vehicle front while another was arrested for failure to produce driver’s licence.
