Several Lindeners fined for DUI

Several Lindeners who appeared before Magistrate Clive Nurse at the Linden Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday were fined for driving under the influence (DUI).
The men, who were all found guilty of the offence of driving while their breath alcohol level was above the legal limit, were each fined 00, with an alternative sentence of one week in prison.
The court heard that on Tuesday, September 27, 72-year-old Newton Lincoln, of Lot 894 South Amelia’s Ward, Mackenzie, Linden, drove motor car PPP 8277 along the Amelia’s Ward Public Road while his breath alcohol level was 38 micrograms, three micrograms above the legal limit.
The fine was also handed down to 34-year-old Shermon Anthony, of 25 One Mile, Wismar, Linden. The court heard that he drove motor car PVV 5227 along Casaurina Drive, Mackenzie on Saturday, October 1, while his breath alcohol level was 46 micrograms.
Clevon Forde, 29, was similarly fined when he was found guilty of the offence. On Saturday, October 1, he was intercepted by Police ranks while driving motor car PVV 7174 along Casaurina Drive, Linden and his breath alcohol level was discovered to be 159 micrograms.
Next, 29-year-old Leroy Fraser of Christiansburg was also fined for a DUI. The court heard that on Thursday, September 29, he drove motor car PJJ 7667 along Co-op Crescent, Mackenzie, with a breath alcohol level of 42 micrograms.
Finally, 25-year-old Yonic Cornette, of Lot 118 Berbice Road, Linden, was found guilty and fined for driving motor car PSS 8251 along Casaurina Drive on Saturday, October 1, while his breath alcohol level was 60 micrograms.
