Shepherd, Campbelle named BCB players of the year

West Indies players Shemaine Campbelle and Romario Shepherd won top honours at the Berbice Cricket Board (BCB) awards ceremony held Sunday afternoon at the St Francis Community Developers Hall in Rose Hall Town.
Campbelle, who scored two half-centuries at the recent International Cricket Council (ICC) Women’s World Cup was recognised and awarded as the top female player in Berbice while Shepherd, who had good showings for the West Indies, was named the best male player.
Shepherd’s wife, Terencia Shepherd received the award on behalf of her husband. This ceremony was special, with four former international players present, each of them legends in their own right – Sir Andy Roberts, Dr Desmond Haynes, Jimmy Adams, and Roland Butcher.

All the Berbician players who represented West Indies at the junior, female and senior levels were also given awards.
Other Berbician players and officials that received awards were Rampertab Ramnauth, Jaimee Campbell, Adrian Hetmyer, Trisha Hardat, Christopher Deeroop, Ashmini Munisar, Winston Smith, Ingram Johnson, Isai Thorne, Veerasammy Permaul, Gudakesh Motie, Shabika Gajnabi, Sheneta Grimmond, Kevin Sinclair, Roshan Gaffor, Jaipaul Heeralall, Julian Moore, Leslie Solomon, Vemen Walters, Sydney Jackman, Dennis D’ Andrade, Omarnauth Outar, Ravindranauth Kissonlall, and Keith Hicks.
Cricket clubs were also rewarded. Representatives of Albion, Port Mourant, Rose Hall Canje, Cotton Tree Cricket Club, Port Mourant Cricket Club, D’ Edward Cricket Club, Upper Corentyne — No 72 Cut and Load, and Rose Hall Town Youth and Sport Club were also honoured.
