The Guyana Police Force (GPF) Cricket Team produced a dominant performance when the Sherwin Williams Second Division T20 Cup resumed over the weekend, cruising to a nine-wicket victory over Demerara Cricket Club (DCC) at the Queen’s College Ground.
After winning the toss and electing to bowl, Police restricted DCC to 86 for three from their allotted 20 overs. Kishawn Silas top-scored with 24 from 53 deliveries, while Jermaine Grovesnor contributed 23 from 31 balls and Alphius Bookie made 17.
The GPF bowlers maintained a disciplined approach throughout the innings, with Titus Webster taking one for 21 from three overs and captain Ameer Mohamed claiming one for 24 from his four overs.
Chasing 87 for victory, GPF made light work of the target, reaching 89 for one in just 9.2 overs.
Pernell London led the charge with an attacking 42 from 28 balls, hitting three fours and two sixes. He shared a productive opening partnership with Lennox Andrews before falling with the score at 77.
Andrews continued the assault, finishing unbeaten on 37 from 26 deliveries, with three fours and two sixes. Mohamed then joined him and quickly sealed the victory, remaining unbeaten on seven from two balls as Police completed the emphatic win with 64 balls to spare.
Meanwhile, at the Transport Sports Club ground, Bel Air Rubis secured an 18-run victory over Diplomats.
Bel Air Rubis, having won the toss and elected to bat, posted 116 for five from their 20 overs. Ajay Gainda top-scored with 37 from 40 balls, including five fours and a six, while Arun Gainda added 27 from 33 deliveries. Diplomat Ashton Collins was the pick of the bowlers with two for 11 from four overs.
In reply, diplomats were bowled out for 98 in 18.1 overs. Rayson Gill led the scoring with 36 from 32 balls, but the innings failed to gather sufficient momentum.
Travis Persaud was the chief destroyer with three for 10, while Arun Gainda and Aravinda Gainda claimed two wickets apiece to complete the victory for Bel Air Rubis.
