The Housing and Water Ministry has appointed Sherwyn Greaves as the new Chief Executive Officer of the Central Housing and Planning Authority (CH&PA).
Greaves has replaced Lelon Saul, who was relieved of his duties on August 25 when he received his letter of termination with one month’s notice. However, Saul vacated his office with immediate effect in order to proceed on leave.
In a statement on Wednesday, the CH&PA said the newly appointed CEO brings with him a wealth of knowledge in the areas of effective leadership and communication, as he holds a Masters in Business Administration from the Australia Institute of Business, a diploma in banking from the Associate Institute of Canadian Bankers, and a certificate in People and Team Management from the Canadian Securities Institute.
Greaves has a career in banking that spans more than 27 years, and has held key managerial positions throughout the country, the CH&PA has said. Greaves is also trained in the areas of Change Management, Security and Fraud Awareness, High-performance Management, and Business Continuity Planning, among other areas.
Meanwhile, former Harbour Master Stephen Thomas has been appointed new Director General of the Maritime Administration Department (MARAD) by Public Works Minister Juan Edghill.
Former MARAD Director Claudette Rogers is now an adviser on maritime affairs.
According to a Department of Public Information report, Edghill has since said that within the next 10 days, the immediate task of the administration is to conduct a review of all its systems, functions, and to assess the capacity and skill sets of its employees. The announcement of the new appointments as well as the policy directions that were given were warmly received by both the management and rank and file workers.
Thomas has served for more than three decades in the ports and maritime sector, with the majority of that time being as a senior officer with the Transport & Harbours Department (T&HD) and the Maritime Administration Department.
As Harbour Master, Thomas was responsible for the management of all the harbours in accordance with the Transport & Harbours Act.
