Sinclair, Campbelle headline RHTY&SC Awards ceremony

Kevin Sinclair and Shemaine Campbelle emerged as the Male and Female Cricketers of the Year following the annual Rose Hall Town Youth and Sports Club (RHTY&SC) Awards ceremony.
Monday’s ceremony, held at the St Francis Training Centre, saw numerous awards being presented to the Club’s best players and members who have done much over the years to ensure the prestige of the RHTY&SC remained intact.
Campbelle has been one of the premier female cricketers for Guyana/the West Indies over the years, and has been giving back by coaching and playing a role in the Club’s ongoing development.

Male Cricketer of the Year runner-up, the young all-rounder Kevlon Anderson continues to shine, having won the Guyana Cricket Board (GCB) U-17 award last year while leading Berbice in the ongoing 50-Over Inter-County U-19 tourney as they prepare to do battle in Friday’s final at Providence.
Guest speaker, Dr Alistair Collins; Director of Sport, Christopher Jones; RHTY&SC Assistant Secretary Simon Naidu and Berbice Cricket Board (BCB) President and RHTY&SC CEO Hilbert Foster were among the top speakers.
In the feature address, Dr Collins lauded the Club for its role in cricket while complimenting Foster on his work, which has made Rose Hall one of the most sacred clubs in Guyana. He said the long-serving executive has been the cornerstone of the Club, as he has been putting cricket first.
RHTY&SC also recognised the services of other individuals who have been playing key roles in the development of cricket and the Club. As such, under the Law Enforcement Awards Scheme, five Officers were recognised, while under the Tribute to Retired Teachers, the Scotiabank Tribute to Student and Teacher programmes, others were honoured.
A number of persons were also given the highest honour, the Dolphin Award, for their contributions to the Club. Those awardees included Clerk of the National Assembly, Sherlock Isaacs; Cricket Coach and former Test player Roger Harper; Guyana Water Inc Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Dr Richard Van West-Charles; Banker Harry Dass Ghaness; New Building Society (NBS) Deputy CEO Anil Beharry; Insurance Executive Bishwa Panday; Attorney-at-Law Anandranauth Gossai; and businessmen Poonai Bhiroog and Deonarine Balram.
The Club also gave awards to its sponsors who have been kind over the years.
According to Foster, some 712 programmes were accomplished by the Club, in the areas of education, charity, sports, community development, and youth development among others.
Plans for 2018 include the building of a weather-proof outdoor facility, as well as the continued development of its cricketers.
The BCB President further expressed special thanks to Club Patron President David Granger for his support over the last year, along with the likes of Region Six Chairman David Armogan; Regional Vice Chairman Dennis DeRoop; Regional Executive Officer (REO) Kim Williams-Stephens and Mayor Vijai Ramoo.
