Mikhail Rodrigues

Magistrate Ann Mc Lennan at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts.

The court heard that Mikhail Rodrigues, a businessman of Coldingen, East Coast Demerara was, on August 11, 2015 at Georgetown, solely entrusted with a motor Canter by Raghubeer Paul, in order that he may use the vehicle and return same to the VC, but he fraudulently converted same to his own use and benefit. Rodrigues allegedly sold the vehicle but did not hand over the proceeds of the sale to the virtual complainant – a charge which the 37-year-old father of three has denied.

Police Prosecutor Arvin Moore did not object to bail being granted Rodrigues, and the Chief Magistrate set bail at $200,000. This newspaper understands that the businessman is later this month set to face another charge — damage to property — stemming from the parking meter ordeal. This matter is set to continue on April 7.
