The new executive was charged to carry out the CPG’s mandate without fear or favour by Divisional Vice Chairman Nelly Gordon. She also tasked them to build a relationship with the community and to be accountable.

During the Chairman’s report, the meeting heard that for the past year, the group conducted four foot patrols, 47 vehicular patrols and would have initiated the arrests of four people.

Springer further stated that the group has received tremendous support from the public and the business community. He recognised their support by rewarding them with certificates.

The previous executive was, however, scolded for not having a report done by the Secretary and Treasurer and, as such, was tasked to present them at the first executive meeting.

Meanwhile, addressing the AGM, Divisional Commander Ovid Austin highlighted the importance of keeping young people involved in community policing, noting that persons from various CPGs would be selected for firearm training.

He encouraged the body to work towards building a strong and cohesive group. Finally, liaison officer of A-2 Division, Anil Singh Mohanlall, who was also rewarded by the group for his support, congratulated  the new executive and charged them to protect citizens come what may.

He noted that the community must feel a sense of security, adding that accountability and respect must be the main focus of the new executives.
