The seventh annual Courts/Malta Schools Pee-Wee Football Tournament has reached its semi-final stage but cherry picking who may be in the final is a difficult task given the technical powers showcased by the teams who have reached this stage.
The Sophia and West Ruimveldt clash should be one which has all spectators biting their nails since it pits two sides with serious strike power. Both sides are yet to lose a match which makes this do or die contest quite intriguing.
West Ruimveldt’s Ian Daniels with eight goals leads the scorers and will look to partner with his teammate Devon Chance (2 goals) to make early inroads.
For Sophia, their threat stems from their versatility as it certainly has not been a ‘one-man show’ for the team who are out to prove a point.
Leonard King leads their charts with goals but he is closely followed by the talented David Weeks (5 goals) and Ronaldo Wilson (4 goals). It shows that offensively, they have one of the stronger firing power.
In the other match, inaugural champions Marian Academy will meet an Enterprise Primary who have not set the tournament alight with their style of play but have done the most important thing, to win.
It shows too that only Shemar Richardson (2 goals) and Mark Eastman (one goal) have made conversions. It will need to change significantly since Marian are team who have showcased immense technical play. Michael Alphonso and Bradley Walton have combined to share six goals equally while Chad Henry (1) and Asher Adams (2) have showed promising signs.
In addition to the semi-finals there will be matches which will determine placements from five from to sixteen.
Kick off time is 11:00h at the Banks DIH Thirst Park ground.
