Spartans, Saints, Ballers win big in high-scoring hockey weekend

YMCA Old Fort Ballers, GCC Bingo Spartans and the Saints Ladies all registered large-margin wins over the weekend as round one nears completion in the Bounty Paper Towel and Solo Drinks Hockey Leagues Under-20 and Second-Division Leagues.
Playing at the Saint Stanislaus Ground, Carifesta Avenue on Saturday, the Saints Ladies bagged the biggest win of the weekend with a 9-0 thrashing of YMCA Old Fort Bellas.
The female Under -20 match saw Maria Seegobin leading the charge with a hat-trick while Cherub Outar and Charlia Webb netted braces. Also contributing to the large tally were Clayza Bobb and Nia Williams.
Also in the Under-20 females, GCC Bingo Spartans enjoyed an 8-0 win over the GCC Her-ricanes. Abosaide Cadogan was front and centre as usual, netting two, along with Makeda Harding and Paige Fernandes. The eight-goal tally was completed with one each from Sarah Klautky and Madison Fernandes.
Going hand in hand with the Ladies’ brilliance, Colonel Haywood scored a hat-trick and Devin Munroe a brace, along with one a piece from Brian Asregado and Sherwyn Caesar to bring Hikers Cadets to a 7-0 win over YMCA Old Fort Rusty.
YMCA Old Fort Aces were also in the winners’ row after restricting SHC Shockwaves from scoring. Paul D’Andrade, Omar Hopkinson and Shawn Kemraj were responsible for Aces’ three goals.
SHC Shockwaves were not having a good day, as they went down to GCC The Sequel narrowly. Quinn Tobin, Hilmar Chester and Jabari Lovell scored for Shockwaves, but their three were not enough to measure up to the Sequel’s 5. Mark Sargeant, Kevin Spencer, Rahim Oliver, Damon Woodroffe and Marcus Fiedtkou were the scorers for Sequel.
Shockwaves later found themselves locked in a drawn game with Bounty GCC.
On Sunday, YMCA Old Fort Ballers celebrated a 7-1 win over their namesakes YMCA Old Fort Generals in the Under-20 male division. Paul D’Andrade, Omar Hopkinson, Shawn Kemraj, Warren Williams, Nandalall Persaud, Deheron Wilkinson and Shaquan Favourite netted goals to take the winners to 7. Symeon Daniels had the lone reply for Generals.
A hat-trick from Phillip Fernandes led GCC The Sequel to a 5-0 victory over YMCA Old Fort Rusty in the Men’s Second Division.
Also in the winners’ row over the weekend were Bounty GCC, SHC Savages and SHC Shockwaves.
YMCA Old Fort Ballers currently lead the Boys’ Under-20 Solo Drinks competition while GCC Bingo Spartans leads the female list.
