Rodrigues was arraigned on the following charges: causing death by dangerous driving; being an unlicensed driver, and breach of insurance. Rodrigues has pleaded not guilty to the charge of causing death by dangerous driving, and has been placed on bail in the sum of $1 million. He has, however, pleaded guilty to being an unlicensed driver and to the breach of insurance charge, and has been fined $17,500 and $50,000 respectively. He will make his next court appearance on December 17 in the matter of causing death by dangerous driving.
The accident reportedly occurred on November 27, 2021 along the Mocha access road, EBD and involved motorcar PSS 7652, being driven by Rodrigues. It was reported that Joseph was killed after a speeding car being driven by a young Special Constable lost control and slammed into a utility pole.
According to Police reports, the Constable was proceeding west along the southern side of the Mocha access road at a fast rate of speed in motor car PSS 7652 when he lost control of the vehicle and it ended up on the southern parapet, where the right side collided with a GPL light post. As a result of that collision, the occupants of the vehicle – Euclin Joseph, Raymond Joseph, Samantha Andrews and Lashana Young – were taken out of the crashed vehicle by Police and public-spirited citizens and taken to the Diamond Diagnostic Centre for medical attention.
Reports are that Euclin Joseph was pronounced dead on arrival there, while the other occupants were given medical attention.
