A Bronze Toyota Fielder crashed into the Sparkle Supermarket and Wholesale Depot at Ulverston Village, Corentyne, Berbice early Sunday morning, causing an estimated $2.5 million in damages.
The accident occurred shortly after 04:00h.
According to information received, the vehicle, bearing registration number PAH 3965, collided with the building while travelling at a fast rate of speed along the roadway.
The driver, who appeared intoxicated at the scene, was accompanied by a male occupant in the vehicle at the time of the crash. Neither the driver nor the occupant sustained injuries.
Brandon Corlette, son of the supermarket’s owner, disclosed that the crash resulted in more than $2.5 million in damages to the business.
The vehicle is registered to Michael Johnson of Lot 23 Middle Walk, Buxton, East Coast Demerara.
