Speedy trial ends with teen jailed for robbery

Taylor was found guilty of the offence of robbery. The charge stated that on October 28, 2016, at Front Road and Hunter Street, Georgetown, he robbed Oneal Shoults of one gold chain valued $180,000.
On the day of the incident, the defendant and Virtual Complainant (VC) were both passengers in a minibus.
The prosecution proved that Taylor exited the minibus to allow the VC to exit. He then placed a gun to Shoults’s head, snatched the chain and ran off.
He was later apprehended and charged when the VC pointed him out to the Police.
After three witnesses gave their testimonies, Magistrate Singh found the evidence against the defendant to be sufficient to prove the prosecution’s case and as such, handed down her sentence.
The decision was accepted by Taylor who was seemingly calm. He was then led out of the courtroom and taken to the Camp Street Prison.
